This project for Neepsend houses multiple functions designed for attraction and also for education purposes, such as large bio-domes with exotic vegetation and climate control. The development also includes planned increases for job opportunities in the agricultural sector, with the aim of improving the local community’s living standards.
The Landscape building concept recreates a natural landform via a building which incorporates exterior and interior inter-connected spaces, natural ventilation systems and a landscape design rich in biodiverse vegetation. Its construction is similar to a large-scale ant hill, and involves various functions for regenerating an economically disadvantaged area.
“This proposal for an interesting cluster of lakeside buildings shows how landscape architecture and architecture can blend in an intriguing way when buildings are vegetated. This scheme envisages that every building would be covered in vegetation in order to create a new precinct, where the boundary between buildings and landscape becomes blurred and where drainage, wildlife habitat and microclimate would be improved.”
